I had always wanted M-Audio’s Venom Synth, ever since it was advertised as being harsh and hard-hitting. Being a bit of an industrial fan, this was what appealed to me most.
Locating a functional one, however, was a different story. And I still feared it’s obsolesence, being so dependent upon software that might eventually not work.
Then one day, after a weekend of G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) and perusing Craigslist, I stumbled upon someone selling one for $200, or asking for a trade for a Korg Volca FM. I actually had a Volca FM that I seldom used (considering I already owned a true DX7S, Arturia’s V-Collection, and of course the mighty Dexed), so I thought I would give it a shot. The third party agreed to the trade, and the rest, as they say, is history.
But researching the Venom online was tough; little bits of info here and there, and mainly questions in forums that were never answered. And the the original Avid/M-Audio website (VenomSynth.com) had been taken down. Hence, the introduction of this site, where I hope to gather help, installers, patches, jams, videos, music, and more. I hope it provides some help. Thanks for visiting!
By the way, if no one has ever read the original Behind the Scenes of the Venom, via Avid, I’m posting it HERE, purely for posterity sake!
